Hi, my name is Katy Armstrong. I have been painting and printmaking for about eight years after studying A level art at Yeovil College. I showed my work for the first time at Somerset Art Weeks Festival in 2019 and more recently at Barrington Court.
I paint in soft pastels because after a few courses locally, I became hooked and have used them ever since. I love the tactile nature of the medium and how quickly you can work using the vibrant colours available. I also love printmaking in linocut which I find very calming.
My subject matter is often the sea and the coastline. I am drawn to the energy of the sea. I also enjoy painting the forests and meadows surrounding my home in Somerset. I endeavour to give an emotional response to the landscape. My work helps me express myself and who I am.
